COOPER 35, RYLE 6

By GetSports Desk | TRISTATEFOOTBALL.COM
The Cooper Jaguars appeared determined that last year’s district title was not a fluke and if Week 0’s lopsided 35-6 win over Ryle is any indicator they will once again be a factor in 2012.

Cooper (1-0) soared past the Raiders behind two passing and two rushing touchdowns from senior quarterback Tyler Morris and big night on the ground by his classmate, AJ Collins. The senior running back finished with 149 yards on 12 carries and caught a touchdown in the win.

The Jaguars got on the board first on a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by junior Aaron Morgan and they never looked back.

The only Ryle (0-1) score came late in the game as Nathan Davis connected with Ryan Hill on a 47-yard TD strike.

Up next Ryle travels to Henry Clay while Cooper is set to face Holy Cross as part of next week’s Crosstown Showdown slate at Simon Kenton.
