"BUILDING LEADERS THROUGH FOOTBALL!"
In football, all young men have a chance of success. In football, the more talented player is not always the best player. In football, with the correct attitude and work ethic, any young man can compete. In football, leaders are born and confidence is built. In football, attitudes can be adjusted and low self-esteem can be lifted. In football, all young men get a chance at success.

Ryle rolls to 50-22 win against Conner

Ryle rolls to 50-22 win against Conner

After Conner took the lead on the opening kickoff, Ryle controlled the game against its county rivals to give Mike Engler his first win as Raiders head coach, 50-22. The longtime assistant from Lexington Catholic had lost his first three games, and his first game against the Cougars sent the home team to an 0-3 start.
"It's great," Engler said. "We'll enjoy this tonight and then go right back to watching film tomorrow. We have a lot to work on."
Ryle junior running back Colin England had more than 200 yards rushing on the night, including two punishing touchdown runs of 48 and 39 yards. The second score gave Ryle a 29-14 lead early in the second quarter. Sophomore Cole Burch had more than 100 rushing yards on the night, including a TD rush. Mitchell Bateman added two TDs for Ryle, and Ryan Rytlewski threw a 26-yard TD pass to Grant Arnwine, who made a leaping grab at the pylon and kept one foot in bounds. Rytlewski also had a TD rush.
Conner senior Isaiah Ebarb started the game with a kickoff return score up the left sideline. Ryle responded right away with a six-play, 62-yard drive to knot up the score less than three minutes into the game. England had a 31-yard and 12-yard rush in the drive, and Rytlewski scored from a yard out for the TD.
"I tell them you will all face adversity at some point," Engler said. "I can't ask for a better situation than for them to score and then be able to drive right back and score ourselves. That's the makings of a championship team."
On Ryle's next drive, the Raiders scored on their first play, Arnwine's tough TD grab, to take the lead with 7:18 to go in the period.
Conner responded with an 86-yard scoring drive to tie the game in the second period. England gave Ryle the lead for good with two minutes left in the half, breaking a pair of tackles on his way for a 48-yard score. He had a 22-yard gain two plays earlier.
"He had some injuries earlier in the year and didn't play as much," Engler said. "He's got the potential. When he wants to, he can take over a game.
Ryle is installing a new offensive system in Engler's fast-paced spread attack, which annually produced a lot of passing yards at Lexington Catholic.
"I believe in it," Arnwine said. "We just need to get better and execute better as players….all three of our running backs were amazing and our offensive line did a great job."
