During Zach’s freshmen year he played in 10 of 11 games. In his first 3 games he had 3 interceptions including a 35 yard interception for a touchdown against University of San Diego and collected a season-best eight tackles, one interception and two pass-break-ups at Saint Francis (Pa.) Totaled up 21 tackles and 11 solos. Also was named to the Jerry Rice award list which recognizes the top freshmen in the football championship subdivision (FCS).
Before his sophomore season he was named to 1st Preseason All-Pioneer Football League teams by College Sports Madness as a 1st team defensive back. Starting 7 of 11 games he tallied up 51 tackles, 1 sack and 5 pass break-ups, including a career high of 12 tackles and 1 sack games against St. Francis.
